  • black horizontal lines – interlace problem?

I gave my school’s TV studio a hard drive containing 5400 High Def-size Targa files representing a 3 minute animation created in C4D. I got a call saying when they loaded the frames into Final Cut and rendered them out (in a format I don’t know – probably uncompressed QT Movie), then when they projected them they saw black horizontal lines appearing at the bottom of the screen and moving upward (on the TV monitor, I believe). My guess is that they either didn’t use Fields and should have (or did and shouldn’t have) – that it is some type of interlace problem. I don’t have an more details but can try to get them.

Does anyone know what would cause this? I have seen it myself when previewing work on an external RGB monitor after rendering individual Targa files into a video file, but I don’t recall the exact settings (And I wasn’t using FCP).
    Thanks much.

Sounds like a sync problem in FCP or the playback hardware. Improper syncing can shift scanlines around and then they disappear. Your problem sounds like the matrix of the projector is just a tiny bit out of phase.
