  • Black ghosting when animating LiveType opacity

I am creating text animations in LiveType and rendering the movie files out with alpha channels to place in my time line. When I drop the movie file in my sequence, I see a faint ghost image of my text before the opacity change takes place from my animated movie. I have seen this happen before on files that had edge attributes like glows or shadows, but these files have no edge attributes. I am running FCP 5.1.1, LiveType 2.1, QT 7.1.3, Kona LH card, I am editing files into an Uncomp 10bit seq. I could use some help on this one if anyone has a work around or solution. Thanks!

you probably need to render from live type with a ‘straight’ alpha (it’s probably defaulted to ‘premultiplied’). it will look like crap until you key it over your footage but once it’s keyed you shouldn’t have the ringing or ghosting
