I am wondering if anyone understands why FCP displays the last frame of graphic as a black frame? I have had this problem for years, and would love to finally know what this issue is all about.

    In this instance:
I have rendered a 30 second (900 frame) SD spot from After Effects at 30fps (Non-Drop Frame).
I import this movie into FCP.
When the spot is played in the Viewer you can see the last frame (frame 900).
When the same clip is edited into a Non-Drop Frame Timeline you CANNOT see that same frame, it is displayed and output as a black frame.

The workaround has been to render out of After Effects a graphic that is 1 frame longer to compensate.

But this is where things get weird.
After rendering the 901 frame spot and editing it into the timeline, FCP DOES display the last frame (901). There is not a black frame introduced at all.

I’ve also noticed that it will happen when you render at 30fps BUT NOT at 29.97fps.

    I saw a similar posting:
“Final Cut does not read last frame of Quicktime movie. by Grant Keiner on Apr 27, 2005 at 8:56 am”
but did not see any resolve.

Does anyone know what is the issue?

    Thanks in advance,

Sounds to me like you need to export the file at 29.97 not 30…
