I’ve been making a 4 minute video in Sony Vegas 6.0, using videos in the .wmv format. When I preview how my finished product looks like, there are black flickers in only two clips, which are from the same original source. I then saved the video and found that in my rendered video that the black flickers were saved onto it, that it wasn’t just a glitch in the preview screen. I looked it up online and it said that Sony Vegas couldn’t deal with MPEG-3 very well, but this has never happened to me before when I use other MPEG-3 and .wmv clips. Does anyone know a solution to this? I know that in the original clip I used there were no black flickers and when I used the same clip in previous videos there were no black flickers either.

    Hi Helen.

When you say ‘black flickers’, do you mean that the video blinks for a fraction of a second and then is ok? How many flickers or blinks do you reckon you have in your finished video? The reason I ask is, I quite often get the odd blink or blip caused by Vegas, and the only solution Ive found is to delete the offending clip from vegas then add it to the timeline again. (But I wouldnt call my problem ‘flickering’, its usually only one blink in the entire video).

    Hey Tinfish,

Like you said, the video blinks for a fraction of a second and then is ok. The audio is not affected at all. When I deleted the clip and added it to the timeline again, the black flickers were still there. I found a solution to this by saving the video clip I wanted to use in Windows Movie Maker and using the new version of the clip in Sony Vegas — somehow the black flickers just disappeared.

    Wow! Thats a strange one.
But I’m glad you found a fix.

    Cheers.
