Hello. Sorry if this is the wronf forum to ask this. I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a black burst generator with multiple outs for 2 computers with FCP 5.0. We are looking at Horita and an ESE. Trying to avoid paying an arm and a leg:) Thanks in advance for any advice.

Get the Horita, they have a long history of quality products and a good reputation.

Yep, Horita. BSG-50 is what you want. The BSG-50 not BG50, but BSG-50.

    Lee,

I have a Sigma Electronics SS2100 BB Generator sitting around. (I picked up three of them at an auction. I’m using one for my FCP system. It has 3 outputs and works perfectly. Email me, I’ll let it go cheap. ernie.santella@comcast.net

Such questions prompt more questions for me.
Why do you think you need a burst gen? Is black the only signal you need?

I do not know your background, Lee, but we get lots of inquiries about peripheral equipment that do not necessarily have anything to do with a particularly system’s needs.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

I’m an producer/editor that has in the last 2 years thanks in large part to people like yourself and the great people of the cow have learned a lot of the technical issues that involve FCP and the issues surrounding it.

It has always been my understanding that you need a reference signal to sync up audio and video. I assume it could be anything but black is the most popular??

We have had an issue for the past 2 years where my audio is 2 frames behind the video on output to beta and we run a third monitor for viewing that references the black for sync. It has been flickering a lot lately and I assume it will clear up with the new black burst as it does when I unplug our current one. The only trouble is the 3rd monitor rolls when our current BB generator is unplugged.

    Thanks
