  • Black bars on the left and right of video with seemingly correct pixel aspect ratio

I’m creating a 720 x 480 (1.2121) sequence in Premiere Pro CS5. I’m using comps of stock video that are also 720 x 480 set to conform to the D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16.9 (1.2121) pixel aspect ratio. The problem is that I’m getting very thin black bars on the left and right sides of the video in the monitor viewport. Any idea what I need to change to fix this issue?

    Try a “rounded” PAR of 1.20 ?
Or– perhaps the stock footage is sourced from an analog format (like BetaSP); that will have black blanking left and right.
