Does anyone know if its possible to have a video project all in black and white except one color (such as red). I saw this in the movie “schindler’s list” which is black and white, however a little girl is displayed wearing a red coat which comes out in color. Coincidentally a short school video project I am doing would go great with this effect.

If this is possible can someone please tell me how to do it?

    thanks

This can be done easily and accurately using
    the secondary color corrector.

This is called a “color pass” and Edward Troxel has good instructions on how to do it with Vegas in his newsletters posted on his web site.

    As Taken from there:

    1. Add the clip to a single track
    2. Add the secondary color corrector to the clip
    3. Click on the “Select Effect Range” eyedropper
and pick the color to keep.
    4. Click on “Invert Mask”
    5. Click on “Mask” and use the “Limit” tools to
adjust the mask to the correct area.
    6. uncheck “Mask”
    7. In the top section, change “Saturation” to 0.
