Hi I have a really baffling problem which I cannot figure out. This is a crisis, I am under a timeline here. I have two instances of Vegas Platinum open (both reference the SAME project media) and I am pasting multiple consecutive events from one to the other. I am copying a series of consecutive events (video and audio. MPG files nothing special) by using the selection edit tool, to which I PASTE into another instance of Vegas (ripple is off here) works great, seems ok, plays correctly – except when I save the target project file with the new pasted inserted consecutive events, and then REOPEN it – the pasted consecutive events are all “there” in the right place, and have the same “width” – except they now refer erroneously to the WRONG FILE! WHAT?? They are referencing ANOTHER FILE in the project media bin!! What could be doing this? This is a nightmare! I look in the properties of the pasted clips and the ACTIVE TAKE NAME is correct but the media file IS INCORRECT! WHAT is the FIX for this? Manually pointing them to the correct FILE? Why should I need to do this? EXPLANATION AND CAUSE GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED!

There is no way to “repoint” events on the timeline to different files. This is locked in as a READ ONLY property, as it should be.

More on this: The source events that were pasted, these were multiple events and not all from the same file. Some audio was ungrouped and from a different file than video…so what? Should be no big deal….so why did this happen?
