On Mac 10.6.8. Premiere Pro 5.5.

    Have Nvidia quaddro 4000.

Installed lastet drivers and cuda drivers. Works great! Premiere says I’ve got the hardware acceleration and it’s awesome.

UNTIL, I restart the computer. Then Premiere says mercury is software only.

So I reinstall the cuda drivers… and it works GREAT!

    Until I restart the computer.

The Nvidia cuda widget is present in the system preferences and there doesn’t seem to be any problems. Weird. Any thoughts?

    THANKS!!

    -Tom

    Hi Tom,

    Two things come to mind:

    1. Kind of the dummy answer but I believe the Cuda setting is saved per project. Are you saving your project after you’ve turned Cuda hardware support on?

    2. The “fix all” for awkward problems like this is to flush your preference file. To do this, hold shift on your keyboard as you start Premiere Pro.

Trolling the NVIDIA forums, this seems to be a common problem, with no solutions as yet.
