    Hi all,

I’m experiencing a strange issue with Premier Pro and audio previews.

Was happily editing away without a hiccup and then suddenly after a routine save, the audio stopped working. Audio meters are still moving, master controls say it’s still playing, other programs and Bridge still show audio from the clips.

    Now the strange part:

I have a mix of clips in this sequence, MP4s from a GoPro and MOVs from an SLR. The only audio that’s not working is the one attached to the MP4s. Scrubbing over/previewing the mov results in audio playback, even though both movs and mp4s show that they’re playing in the indicators and audio controls.

I was playing back audio through my monitor (I’m using a mac and have “display audio” selected as the output device). I switched settings (in PP, not system settings) to airplay over a speaker i have here, and suddenly the MP4 audio work fine. Switch back to display audio, no sound again, except from the MOVs.

After feeling pretty stupid, I also tried restarting PP and also my computer, to no avail.

    Any thoughts appreciated!

    Thanks,

    A

    Solved. To explain my idiocy:

The balance was off to the left speaker on my monitor, but Premiere uses mono audio tracks by default – hence one clip worked but not the other, and switching output devices worked because the balance was centered for the other device.
