Hi all, now I know there are hundreds of posts like this , many of them my own but id really appreciate a definitive expert answer from someone.
Some people say that for DVD YOU SHOULD NOT EXCEED the preset bit rate(or only slightly) or it may be unplayable on some dvd players.
Others have told me that it is O.K(with recent DVD players to go to 8.5/7.9 which has worked well for me with short files.
Is there a guideline or max depending on the run time or file size?
This is really important to me as I’ve recieved orders for work exceeding 3000 copies and would drop dead if they were to reach clients and not work
At the same time it is obviousley imperative that I get the best possible quality.Thankyou

The maximum total bit rate for DVD is 10.08mb/s with video at a max of 9.8mb/s.
If you’re not getting a high quality encode at around 8.5mb/s 2-pass, then either your source is crap, your settings are wrong or your encoding software is useless. Or a combination of the three.__________________________________________________________________
