Bit depth with .psd files
Didn’t know whether to put this in C4D or here in PSD so I do apologise if you think it’s in the wrong place. I’m editing some Jpegs to be used in C4D as textures on 3D objects. When in C4D i’m going to be working in Linear Workflow and exporting my project as sRGB 32 bit.
What the best file export/save solution from PSD? The reason I ask is that I’ve noticed that after adding curves or levels adjustment layer to a file (also with an alpha channel) and saving them as both a .psd & TGA file that the quality is different. The TGA’s seem to lose quality and don’t seem to have adopted the adjustments. Is this a bit depth problem?
When saving .psd’s out of Photoshop I can’t see in the prefs the size of the native bit depth can you select to export/save as 32bit files so that throughout the chain from PSD to C4D i’m working with 32bit files and no quality is lost?
If you have any other views on this please do let me hear your thoughts

The PSD file will save itself in whatever color depth you’re working in. So if you set it to 32-bit, then you’ll get a 32-bit file….
I’ve done a fair amount of back-and-forth between PSD and AE with 32-bit imagery without any issues.Ben Unguren

Thats kind of what I thought because I could find any settings in PS to select what depth the files are to be saved in. That clears it up.
