  • Binary Code Over Human Face?

    Hey guys,
I’m a relatively new user to AE and I’m trying to figure out if AE can do something a client has requested. They want a person, probably a full body shot and a head close-up to be covered in a full binary code, (the zero and ones thing.) But they also want it to be able to show the contour of the person’s face and body as the numbers roll across. Is this something AE can do or is more of a 3D animation thing? If AE can do it, any ideas on how to do it?
    Thanks!

Check out Pt. 1 of Eran Sterns Tutorial “Digits Man”. It should at least get you started.

Thanks that does get me a good start. My next question would simply be, how do I bend the text to look like it is traveling along the contour of the face? I guess that would be some sort of warp or bending effect?
    Thnaks alot!

The easiest way to do this is to project a binary graphic on to a model’s face with an LCD projector. If thats not practical for you you’ll need to try to pull it off with a 3D app. It would be a bear to try in AE. You might be able to get something with displacement maps, but it’ll be hit and miss.

Digital Juice already has this effect built for you on several Jump Back volumes. You can try them as well.
