Billiard balls and orbits
I have a private low-budget project coming up, and I really don’t want to take a crash course in Blender to do it in 3-d, so I’m interested in what I can pull off in Motion…
The scenes will be static compositions and motion video of what looks like macro-photography of billiard balls on a felt pool table top, eye-level snorkel-cam-type stuff, very short depth of field, moody lighting in small pools of spot lighting. The balls will have national flags mapped onto them, and some will have fake planetary terrain maps wrapped/mapped onto them. I could maybe cheat on the static shots and just warp a still onto a white sphere and adjust opacity and blending mode. But when the balls roll, the wrapped graphic obviously has to roll with them. Any tips?
Part 2 needs to animate elegant ellipses and circles to illustrate orbital paths, and as the curved lines animate I fly a virtual camera around them in “chase” mode. What shortcuts are there to let me build these orbital path lines, something like the nav displays in Kerbal? It’s for a sci-fi Astrogation display.
