    That’s your problem right there. We have a similar spec machine and it’s slow with anything other than DV or DVCPRO. All the memory and drive space in the world isn’t gong to help you go any faster with such an old machine.

    An old machine: more reasons to make a good system cleaning. It won’t ever be a rocket, but sure will improve the performance.

    It is because of the drive loading. All drives start slowing down as you exceed 50% capacity. As you approach totally full it in effect slows down faster. That’s why your drive with 200GB left is faster than the one with 100GB left.
