big projects/long timeline workflow
hey guys!
i was wondering on what your experiences are, concerning big projects.
i’m working on a project that is 2 minutes 30 seconds in length. (i usually work on 30second-ish clips). im working my way through – shot by shot. putting it together in premiere pro. going back and forth in that fashion sometimes seems inappropriate and i’d rather prefer it to keep everything neat in after effects – having more control over timing this way.hope that makes any sense. love to hear your thoughts.

It really depends on the subject matter and the work you need to perform, but generally speaking the workflow should be no different solely because of longer run times.
If it makes you more comfortable, you can always break up your project into individual compositions and string them together on a master timeline.
If you can post more information about your project, specifically what is giving you trouble, we can probably help out more.

For me, it all boils down to the number of edit points I have to make. Lots of it and I’d prefer to do an edit in an editing applicaiton and then fine tune it as and when required in AE.
If you import the Premiere project into AE, you’ll still have access to the handles to make your edits.
2.5 minutes isn’t long. FWIW, depending on what’s required, I may even finish it off the AE work in Premiere. Premiere or editing applications have speed, something AE doesn’t have, especially for single or two layer stuff.
