    Hi everyone.

I have a vert annoying problem with Premiere Pro CS5.

I have this project that has roughly 2300 clips in it.
Every time I load the project it takes a VERY long time to load (about 20 minutes)
It goes through all the files each time and it’s very frustrating.

Second, the software behaves in a very…choppy manner. When I drag a clip to the timeline, the motion is not smooth, playback takes a few seconds to start and the overall behavior is slow.

The clips for this project are all in 720p MPEG 4 format.

    I use a Core i7, 4GB iMac 2.8Ghz.

    Please Help!

    Hi Kobi,

When you are working with a good machine, this type of issue can usually be traced to drives.

For this type of project, you’ll need a solid drive array that can pull a huge amount of data through. These days, I would recommend a RAID 10, all you have to do is look at ads on the Cow, most are good quality vendors.

Use a separate hard drive for your cache and where the original files are stored.

are you saying keep the your cache and database on one external and then the project and source video files on another?
