February 1, 2012 at 1:44 pm[Kevin Patrick] “I was under the impression that new Macs, as in Mac purchased since Lion was released have firmware changes that won’t allow you to install Snow Leopard. I recall reading some Mac Pro threads on this topic a while ago and that’s what I thought the conclusion was.
“You are exactly right. What I was saying is that they will still boot a Snow Leopard hard drive.
So, if you have an old MacPro and get a new MacPro, you can take your hard drive from the old one, place it in the new one, and the new MacPro will boot from the snow leopard drive if you choose. Same for new laptops/iMacs.
What you can’t do is a clean install of snow leopard from the DVD on to a new lion era machine.
Sorry for any confusion.

February 1, 2012 at 5:19 pmEven though FCP7’s XML format contains a lot of data, it certainly doesn’t contain everything. So I imagine that 7toX needs to open up the source QTs and grab more data in order to do the conversion to FCPX.
