Beveling inside c4d has been known to have its issues.
I do most of my beveling on edges. Select the specific edge loop and use bevel command.
I also use hyper nurbs and add a few edge loops to control it…. generally good results I avoid the weighting control since I never get what I expect from it.

Have you worked with the extrude commands? It may be more effective for getting your shapes.
