  • better looking text with alpha?

Posted by Bert Brown on December 6, 2010 at 3:27 pm

I’m rendering out some text with an alpha channel that just looks too jagged when I bring it into AE. I’ve tried all sorts of things, but nothing seems to make a difference.

What’s the best way to get the crispest looking alpha? How can I get my alpha to look its best, either through C4D or AE?

    thanks

What version of Cinema are you using? What output format (resolution/progressive or drop frame/bit depth)? Straight or premultiplied alpha? Do the jaggies show up in AE if you turn off pixel aspect correction?

    Cinema 11.5

I’m using the NSTC DV preset, so 72 ppi (but i’m not sure of the rest) I’ve tried both straight and premultiplied, and yes the jaggies are still there changing the pixel aspect.

I’ve also tried to boost the anti-aliasing, the ppi to 150, 24 bit dithering. Nothing seems to make a huge difference.
