There used to be a plug in by Buena Software called “Dissolve Factory”. It doesn’t seem to be around anymore. Does anyone know of a better dissolve than the stock ones in FCP. I hate the way they “pop” on.

https://www.nattress.com I believe that FILM EFFECTS has a FILM DISSOLVE. The site has demo versions for download.

Never had an issue with the dissolves. they “pop on?”

When a cross dissolve is applied to a pict file (title I made in PS) I want the dissolve to be slower. Longer dissolve doesnt seem to work. Its seems like the graphic goes from 0% opacity to at least 80-100% in the first half of the dissolve.

Have you tried changing the start or end values of the FCP dissolves?

You can also use key frames in the clip overlay to customize a dissolve rate.

I have also found that keyframing the luminance from 100 to 0% (or vice versa) gives a much more “film-like” dissolve if that’s what you’re looking for.

The Buena Dissove factory disappear long ago. These dissolves where Film-like.
For normal dissolve (?) you can use the Nattress, BUT FROM the “Nattress Big Box of Tricks” (G Dissolve, Long Dissolve).
The dissolves from the Nattress Film Effects there are also just for film look.
