Not sure if this topic should be in this forum but since i am working in FCP figure I’d give it a shot. I recently bought 2 BVW-70 BetacamSp decks to output tapes for broadcast. One of the decks is working fine. The other is having issues when recording. The resulting picture is jumpy and the audio speed is way too fast. I’ve checked all my settings and they are the same as the second deck but that hasn’t fixed the problem. Is there something I’m missing? Also the playback is fine on this deck the issue is only when recording. Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Jesenia Ramirez] “The resulting picture is jumpy and the audio speed is way too fast. “

This indicates you are recording on the deck at a slightly reduced transport speed. The playback speed is correct and a bit faster so the audio is slightly sped up and there’s not way the servo will lock so the picture rolls. Your Beta deck is broken and must either be repaired or destroyed. There are no menu options to correct this weirdness.

actually i just switched the TCB control to Remote instead of local and it fixed the issue. What’s odd is that the other deck works fine in local. I’m glad it wasn’t anything more serious.
