Activity Forums VEGAS Pro BETA SP Transfer question

I have a Beta SP master I need to get into Vegas, I called a transfer house, they can take the master for 45 bucks and output me an MPEG2 DVD. Is that what I want? Is that the best and easiest? The most economic? The best trade-off? I keep hearing it’s best to edit in AVI, I get a little confused as to AVI that it’s essentially a container protocol of other CODECs, what does this mean, can you clarify this thanks.

I would not want a DVD. Can they transfer to MiniDV instead? That would keep your quality higher.

Argghhh Except I don’t have a mini-dv camera, which is why I am doing this in the first place, but if I did, would I do a digital capture into Vegas via firewire? Perhaps I can borrow one WHAT FORMAT/ CODEC would I capture it to?

Yes you would. It would be captured as DV into an AVI file.
