best workflow?
hi!
i have a 1920×1080 after effects composition as an intro/outro and some hdv 1440×1080 camera shots which i have to compose to an 512×288 h264 mp4.
i’m looking help with optimizing my workflow, because at the moment it simply takes up too much time. thats what i do:
first i edit the 1920×1080 composition in AE to my liking (bought from revostock, change texts) which is already very tedious because my computer is on the verge of breaking down because the animation is so complex.
then i create a 1440×1080 sequence in PP and insert and edit the camera shots.
then i dynamically link the AE comp to PP and put it before and after the camera shots. real-time preview even at quarter quality isnt possible.
for a 10 minute movie it takes about 20hrs to render to 512×288.
my guess is that i’m wasting time here. i need to get the whole process done faster because in the near future i will have to produce about 10 movies a day.
what would you – the experienced producer – do?

Hmmm, if it takes that long to render then there might not be much you can do about it except get a faster comp. You could check you have multiprocessor optmised in the After Effects preferences (see help file).
If the AE comp is slowing down your work in Prem, you might want to try using a proxy render. Depending on the kind of work you’re doing, a proxy may or may not be useful, so take a look at a couple of tutorials if you’re not familiar with the process, like this one.
