I have footage I need to blend together and not a lot of time to experiment with optimizing it from the start. I’m seeking advice on how best to set up my Premiere projects right off the bat. (I use CS3)

I have standard def DV-AVI files (interlaced, lower field) and HDV mpegs (progressive, upper field) I need to edit together. The destination output is going to be WMV files (most likely). And obviously, interlaced WMV files look terrible.

So, how should I set up my comp in Premiere? Which preset should I start with and should I alter any of the settings? Then, should I mess with any of the field options for the clips? Deinterlace? Inverse field order?

    Any advice is welcome!

Progressive square pixels should work best. The size is up to you. If it’s only going to the web you could edit at the resolution you are going to export in.

If your frame rates don’t match, that will be a bigger headache. You’ll have to agree on a frame rate and convert the non matching clips to that rate before import.
