I’m currently working on a project where i
m editing greenscreen footage in Premier and taking it into AE for keying.

My question is what is the best way to optimize this process to make it more efficient and faster.

As of now, i simply open the project in After effects, but it seems to be a mess.

    any suggestions?

    thanks

Well, it may look like a mess because each cut creates a new layer.

There are a couple of way to go about it. The easy way:

I identify and precompose all layers belonging to the same original clip / take, and do my keying on that precomposed layer. It works well because it avoids applying the same effect multiple times. Usually a take or even a single interview for example has the same keying characteristics.

The hard way. Go through each clip and do your keying. This will certainly be more accurate.
