Best WinXP Editing Setup Recommendations
OK so let’s say I had a budget of about $6K. What would you guys recommend in terms of a camera and editing setup?
I was thinking a Canon XL2.. and the a dual processor motherboard with a couple of 3GHZ processors.
I’m interested to know what your recommendations would be.

Also, what about Avid Liquid? Or a mac system running Final Cut pro?

Personally, I see no advantage to leaving Vegas. As for the camera, I think I would consider an HDV model – just as a means of preparing for the future even if you only do DV for now.

well that’s good to hear.. so you think iwould benefit greatly if I got a dual processor board?
Also, what camera would you buy? I want to use it for feature films.

I know the Sony FX1 is around $3000.
Dual Proc works well with Vegas 6.

Do you think I’d see a huge performance boost in terms of render times? How much? more than 30 or 40%?

It would depend on a few factors but the base answer is Yes.
