A client asked me to add a 2 min scene coming from an SD sequence 480i to my existing timeline in HD 1080i60.

ideally i would like to copy the content of his SD sequence to my HD sequence in case the client want to make changes but FCP upres look pretty bad. Would it be better to output the SD sequence to Beta then redigitise using the Kona scaling ?

Digibeta would be better. But yeah, that, or Compressor with all the settings set to BEST.

I did use the SD to HD plug in from Red Giant a couple of times and the result was pretty good.

If you have After Effects, it will give you the best results and be very quick. Especially with interlaced.
