actually, “safest way” would probably be the better question. if i capture footage for one project, and then want to use some of that same footage in another, what is the safest way to get it into the new project? i could import the files individually. or i could drag a bin from one project to another, too. my fear comes when i go to uprez. because clips in two projects are pointing to the same files, when i uprez the clips in project A, how will FCP react to those clips in project B?

if i’m looking at this in entirely the wrong way, then i’ll gladly receive a smack upside the back of the head. but i’d like some guidance on how to handle shared media.

Just make the clips offline in the project you are redigitizing. Then digitize your new footage.
