  Best way to make it look like someone is holding something in their hand

  I am trying to make it look like my talent is holding two people in his hand. When I scale the two people down and put them in front of the empty hand, the depth is wrong. So, I want to make it look like the fingers go around the two people. I thought about rotoscoping out the fingers portion but since the empty hand is the same color it is very tedious and doesn’t get the right effect.

  The empty hand also moves, so I need to make the people track with the hand. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to do this in AE? I am using AE CC 2017.
