  • Best way to make footage look like 1949 (or so) grainy black and white news footage?

I’m trying to get a grainly black and white 1949ish television broadcast look… but it needs to look REALISTIC (not like it’s scratches and grain on the surface).
Any suggestions on FCP plug-ins or particular programs or ways of achieving this look would be greatly apprecitated.
The link below is the “look” that I’m going for. It’s authentic newsreel footage.
    Thank you,
    Michael

You’re looking for more of a television look than a film look? Like when you watch old Beatles footage and a guitar catches the light just right and instead of being bright white, it actually goes black, right? That’s a tough one….

Thanks everyone. I’m downloading the Nattress plugins now. I’ve also got Magic Bullet for editors which seems to have quite a bit to offer… so hopefully I can figure it out.

You really want it to look realistic like the original black and white film material.

Simple shoot the real stuff “motion picture film” at the same frame rate degrade the image and you got a realistic look instead of trying to fake it with video which never will be quite convincing.
