  • Best way to get rid of internal edges of an object?

    Hey guys,

I have an object with a million cuts (edges) throughout the shape.

I’d like to simply get rid of all the internal edges, leaving a nice whole object.

I tried select the whole object and hitting melt….that didn’t seem to do anything.

I didn’t have too much luck with weld either.

    Any suggestions?

Attached is a pic, as well as the scene file.

    Thanks,

    Dean

you want to remove the extra lines and leave just quads? I think it can only be done by hand. I’m guessing you used a fracture plugin of some sort on the object then removed pieces and Connect/Deleted/Optimized the remainder to make it one piece again.
The only way I can think of to keep it clean is to fracture a copy of the object select the pieces you want to remove and Boole them from the original (make the pieces slightly thicker first).
