Hello! I’m pretty new to Final Cut, pretty much have the basics down (been editing elsewhere for years) but have come to a bit of a roadblock in workflow, but Im sure theres a workaround.

Basically I have promos that have the same text elements throughout… a red bar pops in, 2-line text flashes over top of it, then the whole thing quickly flies out… No big deal in After Effects, Avid or premiere.

Problem is in FCP’s titler. If I have text that I want to FORMAT, say one word is bolded, do I REALLY have to resort to Photoshop or Motion?

I probably explained this pretty poorly, so here’s a link to an example… just looking for a workflow that doesn’t involve going into another program to do something this simple:

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

The text tool sucks for FCP. A couple ways to do this is to use multiple layers of text so just one layer is the ‘bold’ lettering. You can also use the Boris text. (can’t remember what they call it) But that allows you to change the formating for any word or character.

    Good Luck,

TITLE 3D…in the BORIS area of the TEXT drop down menu. FCPs is very basic, but Boris is cool.
