  • Best Way To Connect Two MacPro’s To One Drive

    Hi,

I’m running two MacPro-based edit suites and up until now I have not needed them to be connected to each other in any way, however this has changed and I would like to know the best way to do so. Basically I’d like one large RAID drive (12TB+) where all footage from all projects is copied to, which can then be accessed by both MacPro’s (simultaneously but not both working on the same project at the same time though).

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

COnnect the RAID to one of the units. Then connect the Macs via Ethernet. The Mac with the RAID connected…enable sharing on it…including DRIVE sharing.

[Shane Ross] “Then connect the Macs via Ethernet.”

Surely this isn’t as simple as plugging an RJ45 cable between the two….

Between two machines, it is that easy. That’s how we are connected at one of my work locations, and we share media back and forth constantly.

Thanks Shane, I have received the same advice from other sources too so I shall set this up. Thanks again, it’s a big help.

    Ben.
