  • Best way to 3D Track a snowboarding chase scene

    Hi,

I’m trying to 3D track 300 frames of snowboarding behind someone on a mountain.
The scene starts with a a 45 deg wide left turn then just goes straight down the hill.

what’s the best way of 3D Track it?

    Cheers,
    Uzi

What exactly do you mean, “3D track it?”
What are you going to do, or what do you think you are going to do, with the tracking information once it has been tracked?

AE is at its core merely a 2D application that can place flat surfaces into 3D spaces so I’ll be interested in knowing how this gets answered, too.

sorry, let me try to explain it better.

I’ve got a 2D movie of camera POV chasing a snowboarder.
What I would like to do is to insert 3D animated objects (using 3DS Max) into the scene so that they will be part of the mountain we snowboard at.

My assumption was that I would need to simulate the 3DS Max camera to match the real camera in the 2D scene and in order to do that I need to 3D track the scene (using Boujou/voodoo camera match etc..)

The thing I couldn’t figure is how do I track it since the ground (snow) is moving very fast and when I try to camera match it, it doesn’t seem to work.

    any ideas?

    this may be of help,
I too wish to add 3D elements to snowboarding titles but I don’t know any 3D artists.

This is good for car adverts so it probably works with snowboarders.

I’d like to know how you get on as like I said it’s something i’d be interested in doing myself

    regards,
    Neville
