  • Best video/film editing software?

    Hi everybody,
I’m new here and this is my first post. 1) I was just wondering what is the best video editing software between Final Cut Pro, Avid Express Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro?
    2) Also what has the best wipes, 3d wipes/transitions, transitions and which program has great text integrated software where it won’t appear all choppy on T.V. or big screen?

I have a MACPRO 2.66 with 4GB of Ram and have Final Cut Pro(student version). I love it so far but I want to be a editor and won’t to learn all 3 software but really want to know which of the 3 is the most commonly used in TV or FILM and which one is the best image quality wise?

    Best for…?

All are good, and all have advantages and disadvantages. What are you looking to edit?

If you want to run Adobe Premeiere, then you will need to get Bootcamp to boot your machine into Windows, as Premiere is Windows only.

Most editors don’t use wipes, transitions etc vaey often, as far as text a lot op FCP editors use the boris plug in, many also create there text in photoshop.

In asking the question here on the FCP forum “what is the best video editing software between Final Cut Pro, Avid Express Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro” most people will say FCP.

    Shane’s question still stands
What are you looking to edit?

With out knowing exactly what you are trying to accomplish it is had to make any recomendations.

Post houses only have FCP or Avid, so if you need to use an HDCAM deck for batch capture for example, it would be easiest if you could bring them a project file that they can open. I don’t think there are any post houses that use adobe.
