  • Best use of subclips?

For our purposes we tend to capture an entire video shoot including multiple takes, lag time between takes and so on. It seems faster to us and then we can put the entire shoot on the timeline and quickly select and split the clip up according to our editing notes.
What I have been doing is re-rendering each scene that we actually use in the program and then I can delete the huge single file I captured.
    Wouldl subclips work any better?
    Ir perhaps auto scene detection?

    Any ideas are welcome!

Subclips will not let you delete the huge single file. So if you want to create separate clips and delete the original, sub-clips is not the answer. However, if you just wish to define a section of a larger clip, sub-clips will work perfectly for that.

As for scene detection – that only works if you stop the camera between each scene.

Scenealyzer is GREAT for this. The newest version allows you to split and join files as well as delete all of the useless clips to free up space.
Its also handy if you recorded 4 separate audio channels.
Awesome capabilities for such a basic program.
I use it to log/preview before importing avis to vegas, and saves tons of time. you can print out screenshots for paper edits, and it captures great screenshots too without having to manipulate the window size like in vegas.
