  • Best Text Trail In AE6.5

I’m trying (with very little luck) to get a trail to follow moving text. I have Particular, but it doesn’t seem to be behaving. Is there a better way? Or can someone point me to something on the web where this is demonstrated?

    AE6.5 by the way.

    Thanks in advance.

i’m not really sure that i know what you are trying to do but you might be able to get the effect your looking for by useing some time effects like echo or time streching… let me know if this helps…

create your motion. precompose. apply echo filter to precomposed text animation.

experiment with settings, the default settings may not be what you want at first.

I guess what I am going after is not an echo effect so much as a particle trail of individual solid lines. Almost as if the top left, bottom left and middle left of the letter “E” were emitting particles that resulted in three decaying solid lines as it moved from left to right across the screen.

try creating a separate layer for the “E” then create outlines for it. Then animate the mask as such.
