Hi all, my new system is currently set up in an old avid offline suite at a production company and I’ve hooked up my machine to their amp and ratty set of speakers, it works fine for now, however in due course this project will end and ill need to move my gear out and purchase some audio monitoring equipment.

I will not be doing any serious audio mixing and was considering buying a set of BOSE Music Monitor speakers.

Now I know that the only reason they are expensive is because they are so small and no self respecting audio mixer would rely on them but they do look good and I am a sucker for that kind of thing, plus I will be moving my gear around from company to company a fair bit and they are easy to transport. But sound wise how would they compare if i spent the same money on an amp and a pair of normal sized speakers?

If the BOSE speakers are unthinkable, which ones would people recommend? And amps?

    Any tips gratefully received.

I like M-Audio BX5 speakers. and KRK’s speakers. Genelec makes good ones too.

KRK makes an excellent line of speakers. We run the Rokit 5 model in all of our suites. Good flat response with just a little bit of bass.

If you want the “best” speakers, then you go with Genelec.
