[Paul McDermott] “I’ve had 5 Months of issues with Vegas 11, which I have just got about sorted I think. So from here on out I’m not adding any plug ins.”

Adding a script plug-in is not going to destabilize Vegas. It only runs when you invoke it. Otherwise it doesn’t do anything to Vegas.

    Hi,

I’m making a dvd using a render from Vegas Pro 12 and DVD Architect 6. I render using mpeg2 (dvd architect template for widescreen)and ac3 audio. Everything loads fine in DVD Architect however when I play back in a dvd player I get hesitation, stop and go video. I filmed with a Panasonic DVC30 in squeeze mode. My resolution in Vegas is 1280 x 720.

Is there something I need to do to the render settings in Vegas to prevent this from happening? It seems to do it at the same locations. I’m just burning up discs trying to figure this out. I use to use dvd architect a few years ago but never had this problem.

Any advice on render settings in vegas, dvd architect or both is appreciated.

Did you change the bit rate setting in the template. Usually if the bit rate is too high you might
get stuttering. I would just use the default DVD Widescreen template with no changes.

Also, what brand of DVD’s are you using. Cheap DVD media will cause problems as well.

If you look under MainConcet MPEG-2 you will see video templates for both DVD Widescreen and Blu-ray. Those are the ones you should use. Then render your audio as Dolby Digital AC3 and use that for both. If you name the audio file the same as the video file except for the AC3 extension, DVD Architect will know that the audio is for the video and load them both when you load the video.

    Hi John:

Thank you for this post. Could I use this rendered file to create a regular DVD as well, even though the setting is for Blu ray?

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

You could but it’s not going to be as good a quality as if you render to MPEG2 from Vegas Pro using one of the DVD Architect templates for DVD. It is always better to render the correct format right from the timeline rather than re-render an already rendered format although going from HD to SD you might not see a difference.

This is where you need to judge for yourself if the quality is good enough. It might be but that’s a judgment call on your part.

    Thanks John:

I’ll stick with what worked before, which is what you suggested, rendering with DVDA settings in MPEG2/AC3 for DVD.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

You’re welcome. I’ve found that to be the best approach.
