    Hi all.

I just switched over to the JVC GY HM 700 video camera. As you know, it shoots to SDHC media cards. I love the footage, it looks great, but here’s my quandry.

I am taping in 1280 x 720 format. I am editing in Final Cut Pro version 6.0.6 with a MacPro 4,1 Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.26GHz 16 GIG RAM.

I have to mix in standard def video along with the footage I’ve shot with the camera. When I add the footage I shoot to the camera it asks if I want the settings to match what I’ve shot. When I say yes, it goes to XDCAM EX 720P60. The stuff I’ve shot looks great. HOWEVER, when I mix in standard def, the image is smaller than the footage I’ve shot.

I have been using Apple ProRes 422 HQ for a sequence setting, and with some cropping I can make the size match, but the footage from my camera doesn’t look nearly as good.

Long way around the bend, what timeline setting would you all recommend? Thanks for any input.

    Jeff,

You can probably find many posts and answers in this forum about sequence settings. I’d do a search for more detailed info, however the general rule is to set your sequence to the source setting of the majority the footage you’ll be using.

As for your HD and SD material being different sizes, well, that’s because they are different sizes. Also search Mixing formats.

    Cheers,
