I’m about to edit a 1080p full length feature possibly on Vegas pro 9d and would like to know if I should edit in 24 frames or 23.976. As I’ve shot all my footage with a Canon 7D which appears to be 23.976 instead of 24, will that make a difference when outputting to 35mm film?

Also is the 32- bit floating point (full range) or (video levels)the better one to use? The full range tends to change my colors.

and motion blur type? Just stick with Gaussian?

    Thanks!

If you are printing to 35mm film you want to work at 24.000 not 23.976. Also render to 24.000 as well.

The 32-bit color processing is something internal to how much floating point precision Vegas uses when processing colors. I would not turn it on unless there is a specific need for it (i.e., you are doing color processing that is causing banding of colors and need more precision to accurately represent the colors).

Actually, you want to edit at 23.976. Otherwise your audio can go out of sync. 23.976 works great for transfer to 35mm.

You know I think Dave is right. The 24.000 (FILM) setting is only for transferring film INTO Vegas but for going out to film you should stick with 23.976. Thanks David for jogging my memory on that one.
