Running MC 2.8.3 on Mac OS 10.4.11. Working in an HDV 1080i sequence with MXF res level media and I’m looking to export the best quality quicktime I can. I know best quality is maddeningly vague. I’ll try and be more specific. In Media Composer SD world, I generally export 864×486 highest-quality encoded MP4s. Now that works fine for DV25 res-captured DVcam original media but I’m assuming I can get a much cleaner, sharper image fron my HDV sequence, at least something analagous to what I’m seeing in my composer window. Thing is, I’m a complete novice when it comes to HD codecs. QT doesn’t necessarily need to be true 1920×1080 frame size and I’m hoping to keep the file size in 200 – 400M range – this is for a film festival submission so I want to make sure I give them something that looks good, but is reasaonbly playable, isn’t totally taxing on processor. Piece is only 30 seconds long. Initial submission must be some kind of digital file.

I need to submit by tonight. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Sincerely, Nick.
