Best settings for blu-ray from vegas output
I actually just mis-posted this:
I’m trying to burn the project in DVDA. A while ago, John Rofrano had recommended the following output from vegas:
To render the video:
From the Vegas menu select File | Render As…In the Render As dialog under Save as type: select Sony AVC (*.mp4;*.m2ts;*.avc)
Under Template: select Blu-ray 1920×1080-60i, 16 Mbps video stream
Click the Save button
But I see that while the extension is .avc, the video is actually AVCHD. Does this mean the output is in fact AVCHD, by any chance?
If not, can you tell me the optimal settings to output to Blu-Ray in DVDA?

Yes, this is AVCHD and if your camera shoots AVCHD (which I believe is the reason I told you to use this template) and you don’t add any FX or otherwise alter the video, Vegas will just copy the source video unchanged with no loss of quality (this is known as “smart rendering”). At any rate, this is the same quality as your camera which is why I suggested using it.

Ah. Ok, but I think I have a couple of fades in it — what would it be then?

It would just render the fades and copy the rest. In the end, it’s always AVCHD.
