Hello, Im am shooting with a Sony HD HDR-SR8 which shoots in AVCHD. I cant seem to find a good way to import my footage (Final Cut Pro 7) without losing a tremendous amount of quality. Does anyone have any solutions?

ProRes. That is the default setting for Log and Transfer when you bring in the footage.

You think you are losing quality? You aren’t judging that quality on a COMPUTER display are you? What you see in the FCP interface? That is no way to judge the actual quality of your footage. Only connected to an HDTV…and looking at both the originals and the imports..can you really tell.

And to do that you need a way to get the signal from your computer to an HDTV…the Matrox MXO2 Mini is the cheapest way. No, the Decklink Intensity is…sorry.
