I have a timer that was created using an expression. The timer video will be used within a premiere project and counts down from 25 minutes to 0.

I initially rendered from AE using the best/lossless settings and it generated a 60gb file. My reasoning was that I will be continually reexporting premiere files with the timer and though it would be faster to render in premiere with the timer avi than rendering an AE comp in premiere.

Can someone provide some guidance as to which is the better approach and why? I really hate to have a 60gb file hanging around for no reason, but if it saves me 2 hours of render time it may be worth it.

    Thanks

Lossless is best so you dont compress multiple times. If you need to cheat it to save space try a QT using photo jpg compression on highest settings. You probably wont see any noise and the files will be much smaller, but not tiny.
