I sometimes make music videos using all stills. Is there a best render setting for that using Vegas 10 pro. The videos will be used to be posted on youtube also.

Thanks a lot for any help.

I would use a project and render setting of 1280×720 24p. This should look great on YouTube. Render with the Sony AVC encoder.

Thanks John, you are always so helpful. Most of the stills are pics I grabbed from the net so they are 72 res and various sizes. I’ve used pics that I got from the net before and didn’t resise any of them and it seems to work out. Do I need to resize the photos if they are pretty small files to start with.

Also to get the photos so there are no borders if I select “stretch to fit” in the crop tool would that work or since I am using photos of different sizes and shapes would this not be possible. I can live with borders on the photos if it is much easier.

    Thanks Much

[Jerry Rio] “Do I need to resize the photos if they are pretty small files to start with. “

No you don’t as long as they’re not too big. I usually keep them within 2x the project resolution.

I would right-click in the Pan/Crop and select Match Output Aspect and this will crop them with no borders. It’s better than stretching things out of shape.

There is a new option in Vegas Pro 10 that will do this for you. Go to Options | Preferences | Editing and enable [x] Automatically crop still images added to timeline.

John has helped me with slides and “Automatically crop still images added to timeline” saves time in version 10. John also suggested Vaast Ultimate S lite which I purchased. This really made slideshows easy.
