What are some recommended hard drive setups for a Macbook Pro and editing in Final Cut Pro 6? I do not have any AJA or Kona devices, and am wondering what connection and type of drive will be best for editing.

I know this kind of a vague question, but I think I may have a dying hard drive that is eSata, and it preformed just “OK”. I used this thing for editing in FCP and think I may have sent it over the edge.

    Thanks

If you need portability, I find this drive to be second to none:

Can’t beat the form factor, and there’s no wall wart.

What about for rendering and capturing HD? Does this still rock?

Sorry, I can shoot in HDV, and sometimes can get my hands on HD. But, I guess if it works well with HD, then HDV is a piece of cake.

If you don’t need portability and you really want the best, your best bet is the HDOne and the eLane-ex express card from CalDigit.

That’s all I use it for, ProRes captured from an ioHD or log and transferred ProRes or DVCPro HD.
