Best Quality: MP4 full quality OR DV codec?
Posted by Rick Dolishny on November 12, 2005 at 4:39 amMy client has requested CD’s for this animation job. Uncompressed quicktimes won’t fit. Destination: another FCP suite. What codec give me the best quality?
Mpeg 4 or DV?

If its DV, it will never get “better” than DV regardless.

Put them on a DVD. Does he really want your work mashed? Do you look forward to the phone call asking why your animation looks like c**p.
Mash it down and give to him on a CD with a note that if he wants full quality you’re going to have to charge him again for a high quality transfer.
JPEG2000 maybe (not to be confused with standard jpeg).

November 12, 2005 at 4:15 pmFor animation, use PhotoJPEG100% or perhaps, given that it’s destined for video PhotoJPEG75%.
