What would is the best kind of file to export as for the best quality in AE.
I’ve been using quicktime h.264, but is there any better kind of format that is the best.

The Format and or codec used would depend on the products end use.

Well its footage from a sony D8 dcr-trv280 camera. I capture it to Dv avi footage and then i bring it AE to do like color correction or what not. So what be the best codec or format. closest to HD quality, cause i know when movies are shot with regular film cameras now they will put on dvd using a HD format?

Well, DV and HD are too totally different things, unless you’re doing HDV. Either way, highest quality export would be any uncompressed format, whether as an avi or Quicktime.
